Pot Magnet

Pot magnets are encased in a steel shell, enhancing their magnetic strength and durability. Commonly used in mounting, holding, and lifting applications, they provide reliable performance in industrial and commercial settings, with options for threaded or adhesive installation. Pot magnet can be made from several options of magnet materials, like NdFeB, SmCo, Ferrite or Alnico. Horizon Magnetics is focusing on pot magnet made of Neodymium magnet material.

• Structure of Neodymium Pot Magnet:

   

  Neodymium pot magnet is also called Neodymium cup magnet, Neodymium round base magnet, Neodymium mounting magnet, Neodymium flat pot magnet, etc. The Neodymium pot magnet consists of a cylindrical or ring NdFeB (Neodymium-iron-boron) magnet assembled with a concentric non magnetic ring into a channel or pot shaped steel casing or housing. That’s why we call it pot magnet. The cheap steel casing improves the magnetic circuit, which increases a superior holding force with lower cost of the Neodymium pot magnet, compared to a single Neodymium magnet with overall same dimension.

  

• Why Pot Magnet Can Increase Magnet Holding Force:

   

  Permanent magnets can generate a magnetic field, which can be visually represented by imaginary lines, magnetic field lines. The magnetic field lines diverge outside of an individual magnet and the magnetic field strength is strongest at the poles. The magnetic field lines prefer to flow through the materials with better permeability from the nearest north pole to the nearest south pole. The pot shaped steel shell redirects the magnetic lines and focuses the flux lines from both magnetic poles to one active face, so the Neodymium magnet is magnetized along with the steel pot to create a holding force that is significantly stronger than an individual magnet.
